Starting from music storage facility to camera and video recording feature, from Java games to Internet connectivity including the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPRS; cell phones these days are full-fledged gadgets that have multi-tasking usability.

What is GPRS?

General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is one of the latest technologies incorporated in cell phones. It is a new non-voice mobile technology that allows the cell phone to get connected to the Internet in a faster and cheaper way. In other words, your cell phone can go on-line with it.

Unlike current digital wireless Net connections, no dial-up modem is necessary in GPRS service and it is ten times faster than current GSM networks. You can connect to the Internet at speed up to 171.2 kilobits per second (kbps) with GPRS enabled cell phones. Also you need to pay only for the data you transfer and not for your entire login time.

GPRS enabled cell phone lets you enjoy continuous wireless connection to Internet even when you are on the move. You can now get instant access to your favorite web sites, entertainment services and other web applications. Also, gaming is no longer restricted to the basic snake games. You can seamlessly download and enjoy all types of Java-enabled games.

Apart from the latest on-line games, here is a list of what you can do with this new cell phone technology

Remote LAN access:

You can access to different information types namely email, intranet, databases through the remote LAN setup feature of your GPRS enabled cell phone. The speed and latency of it make the date transmitted through remote LAN really fast.

Easy email access:

With constant Internet connectivity, checking Email on the enabled cell phone is really easy. What`s more, the alert mechanism of this new technology when linked with email service, will notify the users when a new email is received.

Web browsing:

You can enjoy faster browsing of Internet through the GPRS activated cell phone. With its document sharing and collaborative working feature, many people from different locations can work on the same document at the same time.

File transfer:

While downloading or transferring files, the info available could be one of the Internet communication methods such as telnet, FTP, HTTP, Java or from a proprietary database or legacy platform. The file transfer process is bandwidth intensive. However, the GPRS enabled cell phone`s high speed flow across a mobile network makes it really fast, no matter what type of file you want to transfer.

Chat:

Thanks to your GPRS enabled cell phone, now you don`t need to set up your own group for chatting. Now you have access to all existing Internet chat groups and can join any of your preferred groups dedicated to cell phone users.

Images and video:

Your cell phone when activated with GPRS allows posting photographs, greeting cards and even video presentations from a digital camera connected to a GPRS radio device directly to an Internet site.

Can You Tell the Difference Between the Real and the Fake?

China is a manufacturers dream, electronics factories left right and centre and cheap labour to boot. It seems though that these factories are less willing to work for the big companies as they are for themselves.

Fake phones in China are being made at a rate far greater than even the real manufacturers can cope with. In some cases fakes appear on the market before the original has even made it to Asia or even onto the market.

This presents problems for the bigger phone manufacturers such as LG. When the LG Chocolate was launched in China in May 2006 fakes had been available for some time. The phone had been released in Korea the previous November but LG had wanted to develop the phone for the Chinese market.

When the real phone finally did come out many people thought that the official LG phone was the fake. It shows how fast and efficient the manufacturers of fakes can be.

Its becoming a real problem for companies such as Sony, LG, Nokia and Samsung as their reputation and brand names are being damaged. In 2006 US Customs and Border Protection estimated that 21.3 million dollars worth of fakes were seized, Its big business. 81 percent was shipped from China.

If an item is popular it will most probably be subject to counterfeiting. MP3 players, games systems, mobile phones, portable hard drives and even batteries. The price of a counterfeit is usually less than 80 percent of the recommended retail price.

The big problem with fakes is safety, quality control and testing. Many of the interfaces are littered with poor translations, even the branding on the product is spelt wrong, somy, sumsang, nokla. A quick glance and you can be forgiven for thinking their the real thing but when you look closely the fake becomes apparent.

The main concern with counterfeit phones is safety. Counterfeit batteries have been known to explode, injuring and even killing people. LG has also been a victim of counterfeit batteries being sold under their brand. In some cases their almost indistinguishable from the real thing. Their sold as spares and replacement batteries.

Manufacturers of fakes are generally unwilling to spend the time and money on quality control and testing for safety issues. Its all a money making venture. 10 to 15 percent of goods in china are estimated to be counterfeits. This equates to tens of billions of pounds.

LG Cell Phones and How They Compare to Other Cell Phones

Companies such as LG Cell Phones and Nokia have played a great part in improving mobile technology. Mobile phones are low power devices that emit and receive radio waves. These connect each phone to a network of base stations, so that users can make and receive calls. Mobile phones are sophisticated two-way radios that use radiofrequency (RF) signals to transmit and receive voice and data. When you make or receive a call, your mobile phone communicates with a network of low powered radio transceivers called base stations. They transmit and receive microwave electromagnetic energy at frequencies between 800 Megahertz (MHz) and 1800 MHz. Mobile phone emissions vary, but currently in Australia cannot exceed 1.6 mW/g in a 1 g tissue mass.

Mobile phones are the devices that have brought a revolution in the communications world. With help of these gadgets, one can easily talk to others even while going from one place to the other.

Mobile phones are the first telecommunications technology to be more popular in developing nations, than their developed counterparts. More and more people are using their phones to access the internet instead of computers. Soon there will be more cell phone users than literate people on the planet. Cell phones are now ubiquitous in villages as well as cities. If an individual does not have a cell phone, they almost surely know someone who does. Mobile phones are also improving emigrants. While technology allows families to keep in touch, new services have cut the cost of sending domestic and international money transfers so families can exchange money in a cheaper, more efficient way.

Modern cell phones created by LG cell phones usually have a very long battery life. This is how mobiles can help us monitor our children also. Mobile phones are typically always on and hence a child is always contactable by the parents. Hence the cell phones are a common tool used by children to communicate with their parents, siblings or friends. Mobile phones, as with all technological instruments, can also be misused.
Mobile phones are more and more becoming entertainment devices. Modern cell phones are usually fully loaded with cameras; video and still. Music and video player, games and much more.

Video players on cell phones have improved the most. In earlier model phone, the ones that could play video files, would only support .3GP file extension at very low frame rates. The videos were jerky and hardly viewable. But now cell phones can support all forms of file extensions, including .AVI and .MP4. The latest models can also support advanced file extensions with high compression rate. LG Cell Phones excel in this field. LG cell phones can even play DiVX files which have excellent quality and a very small file size.

Things You Did Not Know About Your Cell Phone Battery

LG cell phones and other major cell phone companies now only include Li-Ion batteries in their cell phones. They are much safer. Cell phone batteries are different from the ordinary alkaline batteries that most people use for many items around their house. The lithium ion batteries used in cell phones are used in a wide number of items including notebook and laptop computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and more.

Batteries what keeps the cell phones working throughout the day, everyday and everywhere that we need it to work or make a phone call. Cell phone batteries are often specific to the model of the phone. Swapping batteries may cause damage to the units. Cell phone batteries are electrochemical cell that stores chemical energy and makes it available in an electrical form. A battery consists of a string of two or more cells in series that include electrolytic cells, fuel cells, flow cells, or voltaic cells.

Cell phone batteries are usually made of Lithium Ion (LiOn) which is a lightweight and rechargeable battery that has no effects on the memory of the cell phone. When you first use the cell phone, it is necessary that the first charge is for eight continuous hours. Cell phone batteries are small and long-lasting, but not very powerful, although they don’t need to be. The batteries are the most toxic components of cell phones. Please properly dispose all batteries by recycling them.

Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer cell phone batteries don’t really leak but other batteries can. If leaking occurs, contact the battery manufacturer. Lithium ion cell phone batteries don’t have that problem and can be recharged at any point, whether half empty or half full. Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) batteries provide superior talk and standby times. They can also be recharged at any time without losing performance. So you should always make sure to purchase Li-Ion batteries. If your cell phone is of a major company such as Nokia and LG cell phones then you don’t have to worry about this as they already include the best batteries.

Lithium-ion battery, also called the Li-ion battery, is a rechargeable battery most commonly used in cellular phones. It works because lithium ion travels amid the anode and the cathode. Lithium-ion batteries are relatively safe but when overcharged, punctured, heated or incinerated, they could explode as the lithium oxide in the battery gets converted to its metal form (in the case of overcharging and heating). Lithium batteries contain helium anode. On the other hand, lithium ion batteries contain anode materials were helium is inserted.

Lithium batteries also last longer than Nickel cadmium batteries. Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) batteries provide superior talk and standby times. They can also be recharged at any time without losing performance. Lithium produces a very caustic hydroxide when in contact with moisture and this would quickly eat out any circuitry. It turns water pink.

Lithium-ion batteries that are being carried as spares are not allowed in checked baggage, whether they are under the 8-gram limit or in the 8 to 25-gram reserve limit. Instead, pack these in the carry-on bags. LG cell phones such as the Viewty comes with a carry bag, so you can carry your phone and batteries in there while traveling.

Mobile Phone Cameras - Can They Compete With Conventional Cameras?

Cell phone cameras have come a long way from being 0.3 mega pixel to 5 mega pixel professional cameras. Mobile phone cameras are more and more similar to conventional consumer digital still cameras. Auto focus and zoom functions have already been introduced into a phone. Mobile phone cameras are improving all the time, but their frame rate - the number of still pictures they take per second to create the illusion of movement - is slower than that of a conventional movie camera.

Therefore, if you attempt a quick pan, particularly of a moving object, the image may well look blurred and jerky. Cell phone cameras are probably the most common form of cameras out in the market these days and are becoming more and more popular everyday. People like them because of their convenience, no more do we have to carry a bulky camera with ourselves every where we go as we have cameras in our cell phones.

Mobile phone cameras are meant to be used with the phone orientated vertically (in the orientation where it is used while using it as a phone).Mobile phone cameras are often able to capture footage in situations where conventional film equipment and news teams do not have access. Advocates can send such material to national and international news channels for broadcast. Mobile phone cameras will probably soon swallow up cheap digital cameras completely.

Mobile phone cameras are getting better and better with more mega pixels being added to camera phone and currently we have up to 8MP camera phones. But still the quality of camera phone photos is not up to the standard of normal Digital cameras. Mobile phone cameras still have a long way to go before they can compete with large digital camera companies such as cannon and Sony cyber shot.

More advanced camera phones today come with an accelerometer which is device that will know when you are holding the phone vertically and when you are holding the phone horizontally. Conveniently, the display automatically switches from landscape to portrait mode depending on how you hold the phone. Cell phone cameras may have improved a lot but majority of these cameras still have very poor result when taken during the night time. The picture appears blurry and fuzzy even with the flash/torch on.

Photographs taken by mobile phone cameras of resolution lower than one mega pixel are often of much lower quality compared even to simplest point-and-shoot cameras. Such images are sufficient for humans.

In all mobile phone cameras have provided great convenience to us and are a welcome addition to our cell phones. I am sure that pretty soon mobile phone cameras will be better than conventional digital cameras.

The apple iphone is truly a universal phone that is light years ahead of the competition with its ease of use and versatility.

Personalize your cell phone with Apple iPhone covers, faceplates and Shield Protectors. The Apple iPhone features an innovative multi-touch display that allows for easy navigation of the phone’s features.

The Apple iPhone had been rumored for over 4 years now but the waiting is over. When the original Apple iPhone arrived in June 2007, it was greeted by massive hype and long lines at Apple and O2 stores.

Apple points out that iPhone’s features are unlike a lot other cellphones it can be upgraded in the future through software. Apple also insists corporate e-mail through the phone is safe.

Apple recently raised iPhone battery estimates to up to eight hours of talk time, six hours of Internet use, seven hours of video playback, 24 hours of audio playback and more than 10 days of standby. Apple iPhone accessories include Apple iPhone belt clip cases and holsters for carrying convenience.

Apple wanted to make sure that the public learned thru its videos that the keyboard would be easy to use, and also easier than most other smartphones on the market.

Each owner has effectively signed an End User License Agreement when purchasing an iphone and this says that by modifying or using third-party software on the device you will invalidate or void your warranty.

Two of the chips on this board have Apple logos on them, the larger of the two appears to be the iPhone’s ARM processor manufactured by Samsung.

Email: As previously mentioned you can setup Yahoo, Gmail, and hosted Exchange email accounts on the iPhone. (see who voicemail is from, before you call). You will have no problems sending and receiving email.
Sending an email just requires you to enter an email address manually or get it from one of your contacts. The iPhone also boasts desktop-class email, web browsing, and searching.

Visual Voicemail is nice, but you can also get much of the same experience on any web-enabled phone with GotVoice Visual Voicemail if this is important to you. There is also no dragging and dropping functionality other than the flicking to access or delete in email.

Once you get the hang of its “multitouch” interface
you just give it a few days and you won’t have to keep a separate iPod and cellphone in your pocket. Don’t get us wrong, the iPhone is a lovely device with a sleek interface, top-notch music and video features and innovative design touches.

Depending on what you’re doing, the touchscreen serves as your number keypad, your keyboard, your Safari browser and your music and video player. Video YouTube, yes, iPod games,no. You can watch movies, music videos, podcasts and TV shows synced through iTunes. You can watch the most-viewed streaming videos and search for others.

The process takes only a few minutes, after which you can sync the device with your music, videos, photos, TV shows, calendars, movies, e-mail accounts and Web-browser bookmarks.

Apple wanted to make sure that it got the point out to the public in its videos that the keyboard would be easy to use, and also easier than any other smartphone out today.

The company’s participation in the cell-phone market has been hurt by complaints about the year-old iPhone’s data download speeds, which can make simple tasks like sending pictures over e-mail or downloading Internet videos painfully slow.

It’s easy to find all features, and we like that essential features aren’t buried under random menus.

Compare Cell Phone Plans Before You Add Your Teen

If you are the parent of at least one teenager, you have undoubtedly been asked when you are going to buy them a cell phone. I have two sons. The oldest just became a freshman in high school. He has never been shy about asking for anything, so we have been peppered for months with the question: When can I have a cell phone? As you well know, teenagers can be very persistent. We finally caved. And speaking from experience, may I strongly suggest you compare cell phone plans before you add your teenager to your plan.

I do not text very often. In fact, I think the only time I have ever texted anyone is simply to reply to their original text message. My wife is the same way, but boy can she use up those cell phone minutes (but I digress). It turns out, however, that my son is a texting monster. He and his friends can be right next to each other, and they will still text each other instead of just talking. And trust me, it is not because my son is shy.

Your teenager, if left unmonitored, can easily send and receive over a 1000 text messages in the first month. No kidding. My advice: make sure you know the costs of texting when you compare cell phone plans. You may pay a little extra for unlimited texting, but not only will you not have any overage charges, you will also sleep better at night knowing you have limited your costs to that one monthly charge. In fact, our son agreed to pay for unlimited texting out of his own money.

Obviously the number of cell phone minutes allowed will be a key focus as you compare cell phone plans. Know the tendencies and schedule of your child. If he or she is home alone for any length of time, you can be sure the phone will be in use. Free nights and weekend minutes are almost mandatory. If the phone is mostly for pleasure use, rather than because you really need them to have a phone during the day so they can contact you, then you might consider only allowing access to the phone during certain non-peak hours. I realize this is easier said than done.

Be aware of web access from the phone. I would highly recommend as a parent that you block this feature. Not only does it prevent your child from visiting inappropriate sites, but unless you have a plan with unlimited access, this can drain your bank account in a hurry. Think about how easy it is for you to get lost surfing the web. Your teenager is destined to do so even more.

Unfortunately, when you compare cell phone plans, you almost have to plan on the worst case scenario. With teens, the worst case scenario is often also the most likely scenario. If having to compare cell phone plans seems too burdensome, you can always just say no a little while longer.

Cell Phones and How We Use Them Today

Cell Phone companies such as Nokia and LG Cell Phones have really changed our lives. Mobile phones are more than just a communications device with PDA functionality. They’re a fashion statement, aimed squarely at the young consumer. Some companies concentrate more on the fashion and look of their phones for example LG cell phones are well known for their looks and unique designs. Cell phones are very popular, and they have become affordable for almost anyone. They are all over the place. Everywhere you go, you see and hear people taking calls and engaged in conversations with people in other places. Cell phones are important because they let us keep in touch with our families when we are away from the house, and can be used almost anywhere to make 9-1-1 calls in case of an emergency. Some have games you can play; some let you send email or send instant messages to your friends; and some let you take pictures and send them to people.

Cell phones are an example of the change in the way we communicate. Earlier, everyone had to depend upon landlines. Although we use them almost anywhere there are some places where we should not make or attend our calls for example we should avoid using cell phones in gas stations. Companies such as Motorola, Ericsson, and LG cell phones, all print cautions in their user handbooks that warn against mobile phones in “gas stations, fuel storage sites, and chemical factories”. The threat mobile phones pose to gas stations and their users is primarily the result of their ability to produce sparks that can be generated by the high-powered battery inside the phone.

Cell phones are now doing what PDAs used to do, and people are not using PDAs so much anymore. Or perhaps it should be said that the two are merging together into some sort of hybrid. LG Cell Phones is the leading company here, their phones such as the Viewty is a unique combination of PDA and mobile phone.

Using cell phones while driving is extremely risky. While doing so we not only put ourselves at risk but also everyone around us. According to a recent study, when someone talks on a cell phone while driving, they have the same attention to the road as a person would with a .08 blood-alcohol level. Police don’t allow people to drive drunk, similarly they should not allow people to drive while talking on their cell phones. To overcome this problem cell phone companies such as LG cell phones are now giving free Bluetooth headsets with all of their models.

Tips In Buying The Cell Phone You Want

Buying the right cell phone for your personal usage can sometimes be frustrating and we feel like we are in a maze. There are a lot of cell phones out there and lot renditions about them that will make the whole buying process all the more hard. The prospect of buying a cell phone alone can already be baffling and sometimes we only waste time out to complete a single mission of buying a cell phone.

With vast array of choices like brands, models and the likes, it can sometimes be mesmerizing and confusing. Talking about deals, there are also a lot out there with providers competing with each other. It can be a very big dilemma especially for persons who do not really have clear idea of what they are looking for in a cell phone. In the world of indecisiveness, often we end up buying nothing or the item we never really considered before and that is where high levels of frustration comes in. There are few suggestions that you could follow in order to reach a certain decision and probably horde some money in the process.

Clearly define your needs in a cell phone and which plan will suit you better. If you have this in mind, it will become a lot easier to narrow down the endless list of good handsets. Also you will have idea on which provider will give you what you really need instead of leaving the rest of the buying process to pure luck and fortune. It is like clearly defining your goal. Prepaid plan is suitable for people who only use their cell phone occasionally compared to postpaid plans which you pay on monthly footing. If you are an occasional user, you would benefit from prepaid plans because you can control your credits and budget within a month.

Do not be such a buyer who is heedless of the consequences and drastic to the point of not thinking what it is they are buying. It is a robust suggestion that you look for information regarding cell phones first because then it will be pretty much easier to compare one from the other. Going online is the best way to find such data about handy phones. Also find very good deals while you are at it. There are cell phones that have become very popular on cell phone users and sometimes cell phone providers would give a very good deal so that more and more consumers will buy that certain product. I think you should hunt for that kind of deals.

From the list of the cell phones that you have gathered, choose the one that appeals most to you regardless of its size, design or model. Since you have already narrowed the price range, most probably you will have the list of those cell phones that will fit for your budget. Always think that you are the one who will be using the cell phone and it is important that you make the wisest decision there is and that the cell phone you buy will be really for you and not because somebody recommends it for you. It would be perfectly thrilling if you could finally use the kind of cell phone that you have been searching for this whole time.

Pros And Cons Of Iphone - Do You Think You Know Them?

Apple introduced iPhone to the world market in 2007 and its 3G version in 2008. iPhone is a revolution in the cell phone industry.

The sophistication and the general technological advances that the iPhone affords are second to none. The iPhone has won rave reviews by one and all in the smart phone sector. At the same time, it will be wise to delve a bit deeper and take a reality check. The flaws of the iPhone should not be ignored.

Pros:

Storage space - The iPhone boasts of a huge 8 GB storage capacity. In fact, a 16 GB version is in the tube.

Design - The iPhone dimensions measure 115.5mm x 61mm x 11.6mm and it weighs a paltry 135 Gms. This makes it a sleek looking gadget. The iPhone has a liquid crystal display and a HVGA touchscreen. It is easy to interact with the iPhone using our bare fingers on a virtual keyboard.

Internet connection - Email, web browsing and Wi-Fi or GSM/EDGE connectivity are the very necessary services rendered by an internet connection in the iPhone. Safari is the web browser provided on the iPhone. Exclusive sites for the iPhone have been created o attract the user.

Multimedia - An extremely sophisticated music library is incorporated inside the iPhone. Endless films and shows can be enjoyed on the iPhone. A link is provided to iTunes Store which makes download of latest songs very easy. YouTube videos can be watched on the iPhone.

Camera - The camera function is out of this world. The quality of pictures is just astounding. The user can upload, view and e-mail photographs of choice.

Ring tones - The user has the independence to create and customize a ring tone of choice. He also has the option to download any ring tone from the iTunes store

Cons:

Email - The user has to open the e-mail program every time he wants to check the mail. An automatic notification is not available on the iPhone. This inhibits the efficiency of accessing e-mails.

Bugs - Being technologically complex makes it accessible to many bugs and errors. The touchscreen sometimes does not respond and there are system crashes. Hackers have found a way to unlock and access information in an iPhone.

Missing basic utilities - There is no cut and paste option in the iPhone. Provision for delivery reports and MMS are also missing. These are the basic utilities in a cell phone which have not been provided for in the iPhone.

Overpriced - The main disadvantage of the iPhone is its exorbitant price. The iPhone is priced at around $500 - $600 which does not make it an easy buy for the average customer.

Conclusion:

The final verdict is a bit difficult to deliver. The option to purchase the iPhone rests entirely on the needs of the user. The excellent, big and bright display and gorgeous photos and videos are a big draw for the iPhone. Automatic spell checking and correction and a dynamic dictionary make text input an easy job.

The Visual Voicemail feature enables the user to just tap and play back any message displayed. At the same time, it is difficult to get used to the intricacies of a virtual keyboard, and use fingers dexterously for the purpose of navigation. AT&T`s telephone network is not very healthy. Browsing is difficult and very costly.

Despite all these drawbacks, Apple sold 270,000 iPhones in the first 30 hours after its launch. Right now, Apple has released iPhone 3G in twenty-two countries and is expected to launch its product in many more countries as well.

The Cell Phone Versus Home Phone Debate

Ten or fifteen years ago, a cell phone looked like a thick walkie-talkie with an antenna as thick as your little finger. You’d see them on the ears of glamorous actors pacing down the streets of New York, in movies depicting corporate big city life. It took a few years for them to make their way into the hands of almost every adult; and then, almost overnight, young children had them too!

Many people are opting out of home phones altogether, claiming they have become obsolete with the advent of the cell phone. While the modern technology is unquestionably convenient, it does have some drawbacks you may not notice at first glance. And the trusty home phone may not be as antiquated as you think.

In defense of the home phone: Internet service, security system monitoring, and fax machines all use home telephone lines. True, these services can be acquired through wireless means as well, but usually at a greater cost to you. And of course, there is something to be said for the degree of permanence you get from a land line.

People switch cell phone numbers so often that it can be difficult for business, friends, and even family to keep track of them. Are the days when kids only have to learn one address and one phone number for themselves gone forever?

That said, I am the last one who’d admit to being anti-cell phone. It is my constant companion, as important as my wallet, keys, and chapstick when I’m walking out the door. Cell phones are obviously convenient because you can take them anywhere. Most have built-in caller identification, text messaging, and call waiting.

Probably the greatest thing about it is that you can be reached anywhere, anytime.

But the greatest con? You can be reached anywhere, anytime.

Sometimes it’s nice to have time for peace and quiet, where you can’t be interrupted. Having something glued to your ear all day long has several drawbacks. Many people have grown so dependent upon their cell phones that they feel naked if they leave them at home or the batteries run out.

Also, having to constantly remember to charge it, as well as the incessant monitoring of minutes and text message use, can be a pain. And don’t forget that as the technology improves, so will the number of advertisements popping up on your cell phone screen.

Some people have a land line that they use for neighbors or business, and a cell phone they use for friends and family only. It’s nice to have a cell phone number separate from the one you write on credit card applications and give out to businesses, hopefully reducing the number of solicitation calls you get on it.

These days, it can seem almost impossible to live without a cell phone, and insane to criticize them. But make sure to consider all the reasons for your home phone before you pull the plug–literally.

Why Should We Even Care About Cell Phone Etiquettes?

Cell Phones have become greatly popular in the previous decade. It was not long ago that seeing someone with a cell phone was a strange sight. Cell phones in those days were not all that flashy and small but they were bulky and boring in general. Cell phones were only used for making calls. Most of the cell phones did not even have the option of text messaging. But all that changed in the previous decade and cell phones today have become a status symbol. A life without ones cell phone does not seem to be normal, like something is missing.

Due to the rapid increase in their popularity almost everyone today has a cell phone. In some places it is very normal for a person to talk in public on his cell phone while in other areas the same may be considered rude. Therefore certain cell phone etiquettes must be implemented and these etiquettes are different for different areas and cultures.

For Example, in America, like other things, almost anything goes. People can be seen talking on cell phones in supermarkets, in buses and while waiting for a bus on the bus stop, while driving and even in school. Due to this reason many states have started passing laws that makes it illegal for a person to talk on his cell phone while driving. Similarly many institutions such as colleges and schools do not allow students to bring cell phones with them on to campus. This also prevents students from sending text messages to each other while in class.

On the other hand we have Japan, which is the complete opposite of America in terms of cell phone usage etiquettes. In Japan it is considered rude to talk on your cell phone in public places. It is very rare to see a person talk on his cell phone in public places. If they do talk in public places they do so very quietly, so that no one else gets disturbed. In Japan it is very rare to hear a cell phone ring in public places as they have turned off their ring tones and have enabled silent mode so that their cell phone only vibrates for an incoming call. This is a wonderful habit and should be practiced by all of us around the world.

Different areas and cultures have different cell phone etiquettes and it is important for us to know them. So that we may not be considered rude or disrespectful. If you are someone who travels to different places then you should be aware of these etiquettes. You should also know that talking on your cell phone while driving is illegal in almost all countries of the world. So this practice should be abandoned as it is also extremely unsafe. Instead of this dangerous practice Bluetooth headsets should be used. By using Bluetooth headsets our hands are free to drive and we ca talk while driving without getting in trouble with the law.

The Ever Useful Satellite Phone

Satellite phone maybe considered as out of date type of phone today because of the rapid emerging of cellular phones that use cell sites to acquire the signal they need. If we compare all the satellite phones being sold in the world market, they are obviously outnumbered by the other one.

Also known as the satphone, this type of wireless handy phone are connected directly to the orbiting satellite in space, unlike those phones that rely on the signal coming from the cell sites around the area. Satphones can be used anywhere in the world, but some depends on the structure of the system which coverage are in limited areas only.

Just like any other things being created in this world, these phones also had evolved throughout the years since it was invented. The first of its kind had big sizes and heavy to hold, compare with the ones created during the late 80’s and 90’s which sizes are reduced to fit the hands of the users and much lighter. If there is only one thing that remained unchanged, it was the large antenna.

This type of phone is usually used in remote areas especially during calamities and emergencies other mobile phones are useless because of the unavailability of cell site services. However, satphones have poor receptions when used indoors, so the user must go outside and find some clearings to acquire good signal, or at least use it near the window or houses that have thin roofing. This amazing gadget had been very useful during September 11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, the collapsed Minnesota bridge just last 2007, and the Hawaiian earthquake. Another citation on the advantage of using satphones among others is its services are not affected during the occurrence of natural calamities that usually destroy cell sites.

Although these can give us such communication services, there is still a negative thing that happens while using it. Knowing the distance it can reach, expect the delay in your conversations because its signal should travel to its space satellite first before reaching the earth again and finally to the one you are talking to.

Despite of this single disadvantage, we can never deny its usefulness to humans. We can be linked to a place where no man has ever been to. It can also connect us to our loved ones who are in the military or mountains.

Moving on, there are three big satellite phone networks that are presently operating. They are as follows:

Iridium - this network uses up to sixty six satellites that are called Low Earth Orbit or LEO located in our polar orbits about four hundred eighty miles above the sea level. This also offers a total global coverage.

Globalstar - this network however uses forty LEO satellites that as high as eight hundred seventy miles. This covers most places on earth but not all of it.

Thuraya - unlike the first two networks, this is one can only cover a few areas on earth that includes Middle East, Europe, Northern and Central Africa, and the Central Asia.

No matter how the calls and the satphone will cost, this gadget is definitely a must-have for its services are out-of-this-world.

Tips on How You Can Drastically Improve Your Cell Phones Battery Life

Cell Phones have really improved in the previous decade. Cell phones did exist but were not that common, only business men or those people who could afford a cell phone could buy and use them. In those days cell phones were not only expensive but also very bulky in design. Cell phone services such as making calls and receiving calls were also very expensive. But all that changed in the previous decade. With advancements in technology, cell phones are becoming cheaper by the day. They are also becoming smaller and more portable. Today almost everyone above the age of twelve owns a cell phone. Some people are using their cell phones in place of their landlines.

But these handy little devices require delicate care. They are electronic devices so the standard rules of all electronic devices also applies to cell phones that is, they should be kept away from water, kept away from humid places, should not be left in the sun for long periods and so on. But when we talk about performance of cell phones the first thing that comes to mind is the cell phone battery life. Cell phone batteries on a single charge may work for ten hours or two days; this depends on how we use it.

There are various ways by which we can improve the battery life and battery charge time of our cell phones. Some of these methods are explained below.

Turn it off:

The simplest way to improve your cell phone battery life is to turn it off when you do not need it. For example many people don’t turn off their cell phones before going to sleep. This is a waste. If you are not going to use it then turn it off. Turn off your cell phones before going to seep.

No Signal?

Similarly if you are in an area where there are no cell phone signals or your network provider does not over that area then you should turn off your cell phone. Because if a cell phone cannot find any signal or network then it will keep searching for one till it finds a compatible network. This really drains your battery and you will notice that your battery will be completely drained within three or four hours.

Turn off Vibrator:

Use ring tones instead of the vibration function when in public places. This is because the vibrator consumes a lot of power. So if you feel that you can hear the ring tone even if your cell phone is in your pocket then it is best to turn off your vibrator.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth:

Connectivity options such as wifi and Bluetooth consume power when turned on. If you do not use them then you should turn them off to preserve battery life.

Multimedia Consumes Power like Nothing else:

Multimedia such as camera, videos and mp3 songs consume a lot of battery power. Try to use these options as little as possible or only when needed. Also if your cell phone camera came with a flash then it is best to turn off your flash when taking pictures in the daytime.

Who is Selling the Best Smart Phone?

I will endeavor to do a quick overview of the iPhone and the Blackberry Storm. First off they are both full screen smart phones. They both give you the ability to send and receive emails, open attachments in various formats, they both have a camera and video built in, they both allow you to play MP3’s, they both run on the 3G network and they both have built in satellite navigation.

Now that we know that they are both quite similar where are the differences. First off Apple created the portable MP3 market and unless you’re like me and hate iTunes the Apple will win in the music player department for most The other piece to notice is that the iPhone comes with a substantially larger built in hard drive, where the Storm wins is the fact that it’s hard drive is expandable to as large as a micro SD will handle which today is 16 GB.

Next stop is emailing which the Storm wins hands down, the Blackberry was originally designed to run emails and send and receive them very quickly. You can program your iPhone to send and receive in quick intervals but that Storm is designed to send you the email as soon as the network receives it.

Keyboards, if you have ever used an iPhone before you’ll have to admit the keyboard sucks and takes forever to get used it. It’s so called smart key system doesn’t work which for business in my opinion makes the iPhone useless. The Storm has the most amazing keyboard which for the first time ever uses a full screen that depresses and clicks each time you type. Finally a full screen that still gives you the touch and feel of the old qwerty keyboards!

The GPS navigation system for both works very well I was told that the Storm is the only one with voice navigation. I have been unable to verify whether or not the iPhone does or doesn’t have this feature. They both are easy to use and the maps are easy to read.

The camera’s on both units are very similar, while I realize many of us use the camera’s on our phones I have to be honest I am a camera buff and usually have a digital SLR near me at any given time. While both units take similar picture quality and both have 3.2 megapixel camera’s in my opinion they take horrible pictures.

I would have to say at the end of the day if you run a business and emails are important then the Storm is the superior unit. If you’re under the age of 25 and you want a unit that will allow you t have fun the iPhone is for you. Happy shopping both of these units are fantastic at the end of the day!

How To Do A Free Reverse Cell Phone Lookup And Is It Even Worth It?

Each day more and more people are asking what a free reverse cell phone lookup is and if it’s possible to get one online. Of course it’s possible but it depends on so many factors so it may not be very thorough. On the other hand, it’s free so why not try it?

This search is basically when someone calls you on your cell phone and caller I.D. displays a phone number that you don’t recognize. You want to find out who is calling you so you would do a lookup to find out.

There are many cases that you would want to find out who exactly is calling you. For example, what if you hear your teen speaking to someone things that you don’t approve of and you don’t know the person that belongs to the number that is calling? Or perhaps your spouse has strange phone numbers on his cell phone or someone keeps calling your cell and they hang up. The list goes on and on. The reality is that there are an enormous amount of reasons why you would want to know who is calling you and a reverse cell phone look up can give you that information.

First thing you have to do is to decide what search engine you want to use. There is Google, Yahoo, Ask and a ton of other ones that you can use to begin your search. What happens is that these search engines crawl or move over websites looking for information. When they find it, they gobble it up and spit it out on your results page. That is the easiest way to understand the process.

Another tip when you are doing this type of search is to enter the phone number a certain way. Sometimes using dashes in between the numbers works where other times using periods in between the numbers gives more results. Overall, I believe that the best way to get information that is usable is to put the entire phone number in quotation marks. That tells the search engine that you only want results with the numbers in that exact order. This eliminates a lot of useless results.

If you don’t get any results that gives you information that is useful to you, then you could always find a good and accurate online reverse phone lookup company and they will get you all the information that you desire. Usually, for free, they will check and make sure that the person is found and that there are results for that name. If the name is found then they will, for a small fee, get you the information that you want in a matter of minutes.
